What the app does

Everything you need to screen for scoliosis quickly and reliably.

Accurate ATR measurement

Measures the angle of trunk rotation, the established metric used in the Adam’s forward-bend screening test worldwide.

Extended 0–50° range

The digital design screens curves up to 50° — beyond the ~30° limit of a physical scoliometer — suiting mild to severe cases.

Simple four-step guide

A guided, four-step process walks parents and professionals alike through taking a reliable reading.

Fast, clean, accurate

A lightweight, distraction-free interface optimised for the latest smartphones.

50 languages

English, Spanish, French, German, Simplified & Traditional Chinese, Portuguese (PT & BR), Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Swedish, Finnish, Greek, Italian and Indonesian.

For clinics & home

Built for medical professionals screening patients and for families monitoring at home.

Research-backed method

Smartphone-based scoliometer screening has been validated in peer-reviewed research (European Spine Journal, 2022).

Affordable & always available

A convenient, low-cost complement to in-clinic screening — ready whenever you need it.

How it works

Four steps to a reliable reading.

  1. Person bending forward in the Adam’s forward-bend position

    Bend forward

The person being screened bends forward at the hips with arms hanging relaxed — the Adam’s forward-bend position.

  2. Smartphone placed across the upper back to measure trunk rotation

    Place the phone

Rest the phone gently across the upper back, perpendicular to the spine at the most prominent point of the curve.

  3. Scoliometer app displaying the angle of trunk rotation on screen

    Read the angle

The app instantly displays the angle of trunk rotation (ATR) on screen.

  4. Doctor reviewing a spine X-ray with a patient

    Act on the result

If the reading is raised, schedule an assessment with a qualified healthcare professional.

Important: The Scoliometer App is a screening aid — not a diagnosis or medical advice. A raised reading does not confirm scoliosis; it is a signal to consult a qualified healthcare professional.
